Apple introduced the new iPhone 13 series at the “California Streaming” event, so two new Pro iPhone models came into our lives alongside the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 small: iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Tim Cook described the new iPhone Pro lineup as “the most Pro iPhone lineup ever”.
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone Pro Max have faster displays, smaller notches and new colors compared to the iPhone 12 Pro series. Along with the Pro iPhone 13s, Apple is introducing a new Premium Retina XDR display with 1000 nits of brightness. The company claims that this is the brightest screen on the iPhone and offers 25 percent higher brightness than its predecessor. At the same time, the ProMotion feature is offered for the first time on the iPhone and brings adaptive screen refresh rates up to 120 Hz to the Pro series. The iPhone 13 Pro has a 6.1-inch screen while the Pro Max has a 6.7-inch screen
Like the usual small iPhone 13s, the Pro series uses the new A15 Bionic chipset. However, in Pro models, we see a five-core enhanced GPU instead of the quad-core GPU of other models. Storage options start at 128GB and go up to 1TB for the first time.
Apple has also upgraded the iPhone Pro’s camera system, with smoother hardware such as a new 77mm telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom as well as autofocus and larger f/1. It features a new ultra-wide view with 8 apertures. Apple claims this will provide 92 percent smoothing in low light. If the primary “wide-angle” camera is f/1. It has a 5 aperture and 1.9 micron pixels.
According to Apple, the iPhone 13 Pro series features the “most professionally designed” iPhones and comes in four colors, including a new Sierra Blue color option. On the front we see a 20 percent smaller camera system, and on the back we see a stainless steel coating surrounding three sapphire crystal lenses. They also have an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
The A15 Bionic chip is also expected to bring smoother battery performance, and Apple promises that the iPhone 13 Pro Max will last 2.5 hours longer than last year’s model. This makes it the longest-lasting iPhone ever. The iPhone 13 Pro is expected to see an increase of 1.5 hours compared to the iPhone 12 Pro.
The iPhone Pro starts at $999, while the iPhone Pro Max starts at $1,099.
