Early Life

When Reeves was 3, his father left home. Although his father had left the house, Reeves stayed in touch until he was 6 years old. His mother married four times, so Reeves traveled internationally until his family moved to Toronto, Ontario.

Reeves struggled academically with a combination of dyslexia and anger problems, and was successful in school, especially in ice hockey. Within five years, he changed to four separate schools, mostly expelled from schools.

Reeves had decided to play hockey professionally but was forced to leave the field as a result of the injury. He finally dropped out of school.

Career

Reeves began his acting career at the age of nine with theater, first appearing at Damn Yankees.

After leaving high school, he received his green card and moved to LA to live with his former stepfather, stage and television director. Reeves later appeared in Hangin, several commercials, short films, and stage work.

In 1986, he took a break at River Edge and his film career began. Following this role, he starred in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, which brought success and fame, and completed the series with the sequel, Bill and Ted’s Journey to Bogus.

He began his acting career with these films, but the film choices continued to receive negative reviews. It wasn’t until Satan’s Advocate began to get good reviews at the box office.

Reeves also made his directorial debut in 2013 with “Man of Tai Chi”. Reeves’ other works are in literature with his book “Ode to Happiness”.

Reeves also starred in filmmaking and bass guitar playing. Currently, Reeves is working on several projects in various stages of post-production.
