Diablo 4’s chief designer, Jesse McCree, was in the middle of the names that were cut off from Blizzard with the lawsuit filed against Activision Blizzard and the filth within the company. Jesse McCree was also the naming father of Overwatch’s famous character, McCree. Blizzard said that it will not be indifferent to the invitations from the player community, and that the commentators will not mention McCree’s name during the match broadcasts.
Blizzard is going to change McCree’s name, but says that changing the name of a character who is so loved and central to the game is a difficult mission, and they need some time to do so.
“From now on, we won’t be naming such in-game characters from actual employees, and we’ll be more intent on adding real-world references to future Overwatch content,” the statement said.
We know that many of Blizzard’s games feature popular names of various employees or the community. Finally, Cosby Crew’s number one name, Alex Afrasiabi, was removed from World of Warcraft, and Field Marshal Afrasiabi’s name was changed to Field Marshal Stonebridge.
The name McCre also appears a lot in World of Warcraft, with the Scarlet Lord Jesseriah McCree, Jessup McCree, Marshal McCree and others likely name changes as well.
