According to new leaks, Overwatch 2 will not be released this year and will extend to 2023.
Overwatch publisher Metro says it has heard from many people close to the Overwatch 2 source that the game’s development process is taking more time than expected, and as far as it has learned, the 2022 date seems unlikely. Metro also mentioned the purpose of Overwatch 2 to be delivered this spring last October, but we have already passed the spring months. What’s more, we haven’t been getting an update on the game’s status for several months.
Aside from the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Overwatch 2 group is also experiencing problems arising from the Activision Blizzard case, and the departure of the game’s director, Jeff Kaplan, from Blizzard was not a positive development for the team.
Blizzard said that it will not hold BlizzCon this year, the event will be held in 2022. In other words, there is currently no event where we can get information about the course of the game this year.
