[ In our Indie’s section we’ve been waiting for, we are trying to introduce the indie games that are on our watch list and that we can’t wait to be released in five interesting items. ]
We wanted to return with Torn Away to our Indie series we’ve been waiting for a long break. A game that took its place on my watch list a few months ago is Torn Away. The developer team, who intends to tell a story about the situation of children in the war, will bring us together with the adventure of a girl named Asya.
> Perelesoq is a Moscow-based studio that we can call new. Torn Away will also be their first game. I like the way they describe themselves and their purpose, let’s see what you think:
“Through video games, we come together to tell people emotional stories. We are not trying to make super popular entertainment products that will be loved by all. Instead, we focused on attracting those who value storytelling, authentic visuals and compelling music.”
> There are experienced names in the production team. Sergei Ryzhov, who worked on the Oscar-nominated Revolting Rhymes, is the artistic director of the play. It is obvious that the visual style of the game is given importance and it seems that Ryzhov has performed well in this regard. The music of the game is entrusted to Vasily Kashnikov, who previously took part in productions such as Pathologic 2, The Void and Encased.
> Torn Away is a ‘side-scroller’ by the production team. In other words, from left to right (or right to left :)) platform games in the style we move forward. But a bit of secrecy is added to the job. In addition, we will have to explore the surroundings and evaluate the objects we find correctly. In addition, a point that the producers especially emphasized is cinematics. From a first-person point of view, they aimed to immerse us more in the story with cinematics.
> II. In Torn Away, which tells a story from the years of World War II, our protagonist is a little girl named Asya. The fact that his father was sent to the front and his mother had to work all day causes him to be alone. By the way, he, like many children of that period, is a prisoner worker. A gentle, fragile, defenseless girl who is only 10 years old; it has to face the great destruction of the war. It’s up to us to help him.
> The game is based on war diaries kept by children. It is possible to say that this is an important tool to understand what the great tragedy of war looks like from the eyes of a child. What do you think, it will be a game where we can get rid of the usual war games and experience how the lives of civilians were affected by this destruction, as we saw in examples such as This War of Mine?
