[ In our Weekly Unforgettable Soundtracks column, we remember together the soundtracks that leave deep traces and sweet memories in all of us. ]

Of course, I’ve played a lot of games so far. I’m one of those people who try to find something to love in almost every game. But there are some games that; it does not leave me any work in this regard, it seems to me that it is impossible not to love and admire these games anyway. Here, Sanitarium is one of the important members of this list for me. Now, I won’t talk about why I love Sanitarium so much, it is the subject of another article 🙂 Our topic today is one of the pieces that stick in my mind in Sanitarium; The Innocent Abandoned…

The Innocent Abandoned

When we started the Sanitarium, we were opening our eyes, having lost our memory and locked up in a mental hospital. We escaped from this place where we were imprisoned under the wings of an angel and found ourselves in a town, a town full of children, with no trace of adults. The second episode of the game, The Innocent Abandoned, was of course one of the most striking and memorable episodes. Right at the beginning of the episode, with the scene where we see a girl who lost one of her legs jumping rope, we were actually getting a sign of what awaits us, but after what we went through and our conversation with each deformed child, both our sadness and anger swell a little more, and finally, the responsible for all of this is ‘The Mother’. We were closing our account.

Here is one of the details that made this episode beautiful for me was the following piece waiting for us here, which I thought fits very well with this episode:

The piece, which made a light entrance with three notes at the front and a brisk flow at the back, was loaded with tension and sadness in the middle and made its way towards the final, while the suffocated screams were lightly penetrating our minds. It was making its finale just as it started and taking its place among the soundtracks that we do not forget even after years…
