We can say that last night’s PlayStation Showcase met expectations. On the one hand, new game announcements came, and on the other hand, new posts were made about the games that we have been waiting for a while. For many, we can say that God of War Ragnarök was at the top of this list. We were content to look at a few screenshots from the day it was announced, finally a trailer was shared, and we got what we wanted:

God of War, released in 2018, was a super game. Of course, it is not an easy thing to rise above him. Naturally, this sequel gives the impression that we will play the same game at first glance, at least that’s how it feels to me. Frankly, this situation is not something I would complain about myself, I am very happy with the situation 🙂

It is useful to share a note from the information given last night in this middle; Cory Barlog, the director of the previous game, transferred the mission to another name; Eric Williams took over the director’s chair for Ragnarök. Eric Williams joined the Santa Monica team in 2004 and has been involved in every God of War game since then. Because of this, it can be said that he is not unfamiliar with the series, but has a lot of experience. Still, we wonder how we will see after Cory Barlog.

The usual basic difference is expected to be in the story part. This first trailer and some shared information also offer clues about what kind of adventure awaits us. From this point on, the spoiler part of the article begins, let me give my legal warning., our readers who don’t want spoilers can skip directly to the last paragraph or switch to another news at this point 🙂

Ragnarok; It takes place a few years after the previous game. The legendary winter of Norse Mythology, Fimbulwinter, is at the door, informing us of the great apocalypse. So, the effort that lies ahead of Kratos and Atreus has just gotten tougher.

At the end of the first game, Atreus learned that he was descended from giants and his other name was Loki, those who played will remember. This situation makes him one of the most valuable figures of Norse Mythology. Kratos has learned lessons from his past experiences and is trying to keep Atreus out of this inextricable ‘Battle of the Gods’ spiral. But the natural Atreus has no intention of waiting in such a well-behaved corner. One way or another, the two of us will affect not only their own destinies but also the destinies of the Nine Realms with their decisions. In fact, it is what our two did that brought Fimbulwinter ahead of time.

We know two of the names waiting for us on the other side of the conflict, we saw them in the trailer: Freya and Thor. The source of Freya’s anger is known, in the first game we broke the neck of her beloved son Baldur and took his life. He, too, sought revenge. We were able to see how his eyes rolled, albeit a little in the trailer.

Another name that gets angry is, of course, Thor. We didn’t feel sorry for Thor’s sons Magni and Modi, either (Baldur is also Thor’s half-brother in the middle, so he killed both the sons and half-brother of the great god Kratos and Atreus, what should he do so that the man does not go crazy :)). Thor and the attractive Mjölnir, which we could see with a little effort in the first game, took their places in the trailer last night. We can only guess how fierce an opponent he will be, but I’d like to see a decent one too.

We saw different enemies in the trailer, as well as the fight scenes we are used to; There was also our beloved companion Mimir from the first game, as well as our famous twin dwarves Brok and Sindri. Towards the end of the trailer, we encountered a name that could be a new ally: Tyr.

Another valuable figure of northern mythologies, the creator of war, victory and justice, Tyr. He becomes the character that gives his name to Tuesday, one of the days of the week (Tuesday = Týsdagr = Tyr day). Only in the trailer, both his hands were in place, so I didn’t hesitate for a moment to say “are we talking about the Tyr we know”, because in mythological texts Tyr is depicted as one-handed and blind. However, when I thought about the story about losing his usual hand, I thought that we might not have reached that point now, my hesitation has been erased 🙂 Who knows, we will probably come across a scene with Fenrir in the game 🙂 Let me share a final note, Tyr is one of Thor’s half-brothers. The half-brothers will probably come and stop during this adventure 🙂

I have extended the article properly, let’s wrap it up now. Last night, they stole a finger of honey in our mouths and put us back in the arms of an unexplained expectation, there is still no release date. However, I hope that it will not make us wait any longer and it will come in the first half of 2022. We are waiting with great interest, we are following very closely.
